Saskatchewan: “man these little kei trucks are great! We can’t stop importing them!”
![]() 09/09/2020 at 11:41 |

Street legal, and often make way more sense than buying a Mule.
I might have to have one some day...
![]() 09/09/2020 at 11:43 |
|
The maximum load kei trucks can carry is about 770 lbs.
A 3/8ths ton, then. =)
![]() 09/09/2020 at 11:46 |
|
Sure. Let's mount the fifth wheel hitch, load up 12,000 pounds of forklifts and go run the Davis Damn Grade
![]() 09/09/2020 at 11:47 |
|
Can confirm much want!
![]() 09/09/2020 at 11:48 |
|
It's even hard to fathom that... does that include the Culvers Lovin' Fat 'America's 225 pounds?
![]() 09/09/2020 at 11:51 |
|
They make so much sense but ‘ Murica so we’ll keep those 15 year old Rangers alive until the world’s heat death because small trucks *averts gaze* don’t exist anymore.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 11:54 |
|
Hey, I’m 225... :| I’m also 6'1" and not obese, so...
Looks like that’s bed load capacity, not sure about
GVWR.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 11:56 |
|
Both of those trucks have a 6 foot bed. The Acty is 130" long, the Silverado is 230".
![]() 09/09/2020 at 11:57 |

I spotted this one while oppo hunting:
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
The dump truck that had been tailgating me for ~20 minutes also stopped to take a look at it.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 11:58 |

Actually, that might be max payload, including passenger.
So, two good-ole boys, and their dogs in the back. =)
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:06 |

Hey that’s Baker’s Waskesieu bungalows isn’t it? We’re just around the corner on Orchid st. (but not now, gottsta work.)
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:11 |
|
I’d kill to get down to 225.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:12 |
|
If I had a big plot of land, I'd get one. 4wd, enclosed cab with heat and AC, decent sized bed. Beats the hell out of a way more expensive UTV.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:19 |
|
I see more here as time goes on! Still would love one someday...I’ve always wondered why people don’t import Piaggio Porters from Italy....more expensive than buying keis from
Japan auctions
, I imagine, but they are LHD and have larger 1.3 or so litre engines, so more pep and higher payload! And they are based on Daihatsu Hijets (if memory serves?)
, so I’d imagine most parts would be fairly easy to get!

LOL!!!! Man I do love an Oreo Concrete Mixer.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:24 |

Add a snow plow to that and I’m in.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:25 |
|
When you don’t need to go faster than 40 or care if you live or die, a Kei truck can’t be beat.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:38 |
|
Fun fact, the
Piaggio Ape TM with it
s 1-cylinder,
2-stroke,
218cc engine of around
10
hp has a rated payload capacity of 1500lbs :P
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:39 |
|
For sure!
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:42 |
|
Yup. Been trying to lose the same 50lb for years now.
The scale mocks me.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:52 |
|
Yeah, that’s where I was goin’. I’m 6'1" and about 225 so we could be the same guy....
And I do love me a Culve r’s pork sandwich with the greasy onion rings and the larger (additional fee applies) strawberry shake.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:53 |
|
Nobody does it better. Damn they have a great menu
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:53 |
|
Marginally safer than a motorcycle! xD
S ome of these things can actually do “ highway speed”, though I’m not sure if prolonged highway travel would be good for those adorable engines.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:54 |

Isnt Changli building a pickup truck next? Will be just like a CyberTruck
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:54 |
|
225? It’s not 1975 anymore.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:55 |
|
Now that I look at this problem more- I think the “down” portion of the Davis Dam Test will be far more interesting.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 12:55 |

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
Cause they need their truck for work?
![]() 09/09/2020 at 13:06 |
|
That’s not much less than a midsize. Within “yeah, throw it on, it’ll fit” eyeball loading test.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 13:08 |
|
Is it though? You wear a helmet and leathers on a bike.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 13:10 |

Luckily for my waistline, the nearest Culver’s is a couple hours away.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 13:12 |

Amazing!
![]() 09/09/2020 at 13:15 |

Can’t say that my Rampage is still up to its original 1145lb payload capacity. But I’ve hauled a LOT of crap in the back of a very little truck and it still cruises at 140kph...
![]() 09/09/2020 at 13:18 |
|
LOLOLOL true. And your legs and face are the crumple zones of a kei truck.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 13:27 |
|
I could eat there every day for a month and never order the same thing twice...
![]() 09/09/2020 at 13:32 |
|
Sure is bud! I’m jealous you have a place up here.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 13:33 |
|
You’re right, because some people need to do that, everyone needs to be able to do it.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 13:37 |
|
You probably shouldn’t do that.
Mmm... cheese curds.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 13:49 |
|
I too, haul 12,000lbs if forklifts up a steep grade to the grocery store. BOTH WAYS
![]() 09/09/2020 at 13:50 |
|
It’s a mixed blessing. It has become the focal point of my existence. Not the worst thing to be chained to, but one can get sick of waskesieu, if all time not spent there is spent discussing it and complainin that we’re not there.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 13:59 |

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
...said the headline. A lot of people do big work with big trucks. And, yes, they do tow loads once in awhile.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
That's where we came in-- with the assertion the Big Three don't understand their customer base.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 14:01 |
|
As a Saskwejian, what’s a grade?
![]() 09/09/2020 at 14:02 |
|
Oh. Man. That seems wrong
![]() 09/09/2020 at 14:03 |
|
Heh. My D-i-L feigns "healthy lifestyle" so imagine my surprise when I walked into their house the other day and she offered me-- "have a cheese curd" ?
![]() 09/09/2020 at 14:04 |
|
There’s less guilt when others are doing it, too. =)
![]() 09/09/2020 at 14:05 |
|
Yeah. Different languages...
cHeck out "SAE J2807 test" sometime.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 14:11 |
|
It does, but it’s true, haha!
![]() 09/09/2020 at 14:12 |
|
Well, people use Kei trucks for work, I just meant the Porter is basically the same thing but with more power and LHD, so it’d be easier to register and insure over here!
![]() 09/09/2020 at 14:33 |
|
Big trucks are great for big, spread-out areas. Small trucks are great for congested, urban areas.
There is a place in the world for both.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 15:22 |
|
Oh, I know, anyone who thinks I’m saying all big trucks are bad are reading into things.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 16:12 |
|
That’s how SAE standards are rated. Anybody could just throw a number on there, but if everybody’s using different fruits, they don’t mean as much.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 16:19 |
|
It’s not that most truck buyer need a smaller truck. It’s that most truck buyers need a station wagon.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 16:33 |
|
Can confirm, bought a station wagon instead of a truck.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 16:42 |
|
It’s also a very long drive for you.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 16:43 |

That never bothers me, I’m like a black lab, I’m happy if i get to go in the car.
![]() 09/09/2020 at 21:12 |

I would get one if I didn’t want a Holden Ute more
